From Physical to Digital Model by Laserscanning.
Scan, Retopology & texture preparation. The Scan technique can be adjusted depending on your workflow. This can be either a Hi-Res Retopology where all the detail gets considered or Displacement/Normal/etc. Maps can be generated. The finished model can be opened in your favourite 3D application.

  Advantages:

· A physical Model can be digitized 1:1.
· The 3D Scan can serve as a refrence model for retopology.
· The laserscan wont have a lens or perspective distortion as in photography.

Additional information:

· Glass or shiny surfaces are not suitable for scanning because they deflect the laser. These objects must be either white powdered or painted.
· Even on small objects the Scaner will detect millions of points. This leads to an enormous ram need and slow workflow. The objects should always be scanned at the eventually needed detail level.
· Textures can also be captured. But these are always dependent on the surrounded lighting. In my expirience it's better to redo the textures afterwards and just use the captured textures by the scanner as a refrence.
